Jason Hsieh: Hi, good afternoon. Welcome to this month’s webinar. Today’s webinar’s topic is going to be on the future of toy marketing, AI and digital tactic for success. Let me just go straight into it and we’re going to start the webinar. If you have any questions throughout the entire training, please feel [00:01:00] free to leave in the comment sections on the YouTube channels, and we’ll try to answer and address all the questions.

The webinar goal is to explore how toy brand can leverage AI and the latest digital tactic to enhance marketing strategy using insight and I will be also sharing some case study of how we are currently using AI and different technology within Toy Launch, our own in house toys brand, and also with our clients brand, other digital marketing, content marketing, and various of different marketing that we’re doing using AI. I’ll also give some live example of a few platform besides ChatGPT that we’re currently using as part of our content strategy and I’ll show you a few example on how to use those tool properly.

As far as agenda goes, first is to understand the key concept and trend of how AI is shaping the future of toy marketing, and also explore some real life example of effective AI and digital strategy in the current toy marketing in [00:02:00] 2024, and then also learn about effective way of implementing AI driven personalizations, digital engagement, and also a immersive experience for your target customer. Last but not least is to understand how to adapt this tactic to drive increased customer engagements, loyalty, and also business success. So a little bit about me. My name is Jason Hsieh, I’m a serial entrepreneur. I currently run two different businesses and one nonprofit foundation. I also just started running a local meetup group as well. So I have an in-house toys brand called LakiKid, which we designed toys for kids with special needs. I’ll also talk about how I got into that business in my next slide here. And besides our own in-House Toys brand, I also run the digital marketing company called Toy Launch, which we currently manage about 15 different toys brands and board games companies in assisting them with digital marketing. I also have started a foundation earlier this year called Sensory [00:03:00] Inclusive Classroom Foundation. The mission of the foundation right now is to just give away and donate toys to low income school district and also other clinic that we are running into in the Phoenix area.

And I also recently started a local meetup group called Phoenix Online Seller, which we meet on the regular basis to discuss and share idea of what is working and what’s not working in the latest online marketing or e-commerce marketing environment. Where it all started for me, really in 2013, if you haven’t heard about me and my story, my son was diagnosed with autism and ADHD while me and my wife was living in Japan. I’m from Taiwan myself, my wife is from Japan so I do speak Chinese and Japanese fluently. I’m trilingual. However, the thing was Japan, just like all the other Asian country. That’s a huge taboo when it comes to disabilities. When we first heard about our son’s diagnosis, it was really hard for us to find the help, support, [00:04:00] and also therapy opportunity for him and for his condition. To give you a real live example, in 2013, in the entire Tokyo metropolitan area we can only find two therapy centers to take our son to back in Japan. So we decided to move to United States in 2015. We used to live in Seattle, Washington before. It was a little bit too much rain. So we decided to move to Phoenix where I’m currently located now. But after we moved to United States, we fear we run into a different type of problem because as we know, the medical insurance system here in United States is not really good. It’s actually one of the worst in any of the advanced country. So a lot of the therapy that we are able to get we need to pay almost all the therapy out of pocket. We’re talking about a hundred dollars an hour therapy that required 10 to 15 hour weeks, so if you do the math, that’s $6000 a month just on paying for the medical expenses alone. No middle class income family can really afford that kind of medical expense. That’s why I started [00:05:00] dabbling into e-commerce in 2016 and I started the toy brand LakiKid in 2017, all on top of my day job which my previous career was in corporate finance. That’s how I got started into the toy industry. This is a picture of me and my wife and our three kids. It’s Keanu, Luana and Moani.

A little bit about toy launch. We are a digital marketing company specialize in helping toys and board game company. We are also Klaviyo partner, Shopify partners, Amazon app partners, and we are also partner with various of different toys association, including we’re a member of Astra, Women in Toys and also United Inventors Association. And I also run a podcast. If you haven’t listened to it, it’s called Toy Business Unboxed. And the purpose of the podcast is to interview people on the toy industry and sharing their story. I have interviewed people like the toy inventors, toy entrepreneurs, toy store owners, I also had interviewed the chairwoman of women in toys in the past and [00:06:00] many other people in the toy industry. Toy industry is really an interesting industry, a very tiny and very close community. A lot of people know each other. I’m also being very active in the toy industry right now as well.

Three principle of our toy marketing system. Before I dive into the webinar today I want to first describe on how we usually manage all of our client here at Toy Launch. First is we focusing on conversion optimization because for online and digital marketing, having a fully optimized and converting a product detail page is critical for the long term success of any business, especially when you’re selling online. Second, we also focusing on profit optimization. We actually assist on helping brands launch on platform like Amazon or Walmart, but it’s very important for us to know what is the profitability for your product on those platforms if you consider launching them with your catalog. So we also assist on the brand to come up with that calculation. [00:07:00] What is your contribution margin, which means your selling price minus all the Amazon fee, the Amazon FBA fee, the Amazon referral fee, the Amazon storage fee, Amazon long term storage fee, it go on and on. There’s a lot of different fee that Amazon charges. So it’s very important as a toy entrepreneur to understand all the fee that’s involved before you launch and become fully committed to the platform. The third component is ongoing optimization, it’s very important to do ongoing A B testing of different images, different titles, Bullet points and also product descriptions, swapping out different images, or even videos as far as ongoingly optimize and make sure we can convert at a higher percentage over time.

Going right into today’s webinar, talking about AI, this is a really hot topic right now in 2024, almost every single webinar you go to they are talking about some sort of AI. Either how to use ChatGPT, how to use all the latest technology, how do you [00:08:00] use different type of AI to assist with businesses processes. But in today’s webinar, I’m going to be focusing on teaching and showing some of the real life example of how to use AI to transform your current marketing processes, create a more personalized marketing strategy, enhance customer insight and also make it more interactive and also give some example of a few different platform we’re currently using for content creation and content management, which is something that’s one of my focus was my podcast. I have a whole workflow on how to optimize our podcast content creation. And on average, we spend about 10 hours per podcast episode to create those content, which I’m going to elaborate on in today’s training as well.

For those toy entrepreneur that’s listening, you need to consider how can you create more content that’s relevant and related to your toys or to your product. So that way you can also become like an industry leader [00:09:00] for your brand in the space. You have more than just another toy manufacturer, but you’re also creating content to assist with your potential customer. The other thing that you can really use AI for is really understanding the customer preference and there’s different ways you can use AI to analyze dataset to identify patterns or trend in the customer behavior. And also you can use AI for predictive analysis for trend forecasting, you can also create personalized marketing campaign. One thing I use AI a lot for is coming up with email campaign, for example, for new product launches, for seasonal campaign, let’s just say father’s day or back in school, or even black Friday. You can use AI Like a three, five email sequences to really promote your brand doing those special holidays. You can also make it a little bit more personalized, and this is another good way to really use AI to create a more enhanced customer [00:10:00] engagement. For those of you that currently have an email list, the minimum frequency you should be emailing your list at least once a week. The reason is because if you don’t email your list they’ll forget about you and who you are and what you stand for. My recommendation if you have the email list, email them at least once a week, and you can just email them with newsletter that could be written by AI. If you do use different prompts and come up with a template that’s a many different way down how to create that and also you can use AI to optimize your product development processes. Ask AI for feedbacks on what kind of product you can design.

The next thing you can really use AI for is to create engaging content for a digital marketing campaign for toys. You can do interactive product demonstration and tutorial. Storytelling and you can even use AI to create like a brand character, even a mascot. Come up with idea like doing a different challenges on social media, and you can also use AI to come up with messages that you can reach out to social media influencers. I will also [00:11:00] give you some examples of different AI tools that we currently use.

One of the very popular ones, a lot of people are using it nowadays, it’s called Canva. Canva also have a lot of the different AI capability now as they are also involving and really upgrading their software. Our social media team here at Toy Launch, we do use Canva on a daily basis. E-commerce wise, the most popular tool our team use a lot is background remover, because for example, most of the platform have different requirement you need to have a white background, right? So with Canva, you can upload your picture, and then you can remove the background for you as part of their AI functionalities and also they have features like magic eraser, you can erase objects, or you can replace objects for creating images for your digital storefront or for your online store, or even for your Amazon listing. Canva is a really, powerful tool to use. So if you haven’t tried it, 100 percent recommend they have a free subscription you can try. Canva now also have a new feature. I think it’s still not as mature yet. [00:12:00] But it’s a new feature called AI image generator, you can generate images right inside a canvas platform as well. So that’s another option you can look into for creating images, not just for social media, but also for your listings, for your product description, et cetera.

And here’s a couple example of how do you integrate chatbot for your customer support in toy marketing. A lot of you that listening have a website right now, either Shopify or WooCommerce, having a chatbot that’s embedded to your website. That’s also AI power could really help you to have a more efficient way of handling customer Support and also providing personalized recommendation and assistant. I’m pretty sure for those of you that do any kind of online shopping other website, a lot of websites have this in embedded in their homepage where you can chat with the AI and just ask them questions. And then they’ll give you a more personalized response. You can also use that to do data collections [00:13:00] and also collect more customer insight by embedding a chat bot to your website as a way to interact with your customer.

You can also use AI for targeted influencer at vacations. That’s a lot of different influencer marketplaces that you can use as far as doing influencer marketing or doing influencer research, and also you can use AI to come up with, okay, give me a list of a hundred influencer within this criteria and also write a personalized outreach message to each of the influencer that is on the list, that’s like some creative way of how you can really engage in more of a influence of marketing using AI as well. So of course, like I talk about, you can use it for you long term relationship building with an influencer. And usually my recommendation is trying to find influencer that’s under 10, 000 followers that you often refer to as micro influencer. Usually those influencers are not asking for you to pay them. If you go with [00:14:00] an influencer that have 100,000, or a million followers, they often will ask you to pay them per post which is like 500, sometimes 1, 000 per post. And based on our experience. It’s just not as effective. The more effective is actually you engage with more of a micro influencer influencers that have a smaller account, most of the time they are willing to create a content, either a video review, an unboxing video, or a piece of content for free in exchange of your product, and maybe a small percentage of the commission as well. So based on our experience, that is a lot more effective. As far as promoting your products, we influence the marketing is to go after smaller influencer that is willing to create content for your Toy brand. In exchange of free product.

The second thing you can also use AI for is SEO, as you may or may not know, AI is really good at writing content, but also you can use AI for doing keyword research and [00:15:00] optimization and even content creation. And you can also create video script, which I do all the time, which I’m going to show you an example of the software I use. How do I create all the short form videos for my brand? I’m trying to post one short form video a day right now. So what I mean by short form video is a vertical videos that’s under 60 seconds. You can upload to Tiktok, instagram Reels, Facebook Stories, and YouTube Shorts, and all the major social media platforms. As we know, the short form content is really like a king right now. You get a lot more impression when you post short form content.

You can use AI to come up with user generated content and also review by using AI to encourage more people to leave you reviews and upload more images of themselves using your toys and your product as well. So here’s another example of how to use AI for SEOs and content. One of the tool we also use here in toy launch, a software called helium 10. This software is primarily [00:16:00] designed for Amazon and Walmart marketplace optimization. One of the key tool we use as part of our process inside Helium 10, they have a tool called listing builder that is also AI power means they can actually write your Amazon product listing, including the title, the bullet point at the description, and even the backend search term and you also can research different keyword. Use different tool inside Helium 10 like Cerebros to download all the keyword that your competitor is currently using. Pick and choose a keyword that you want to put into your listing and try to first index and rank for those keyword. For those of you who is not familiar with the Amazon platform, webinar last month, amazon marketing for toy brand. Feel free to check it out on our YouTube channel. If you haven’t watched that particular training yet, and also with the Helium 10 tool now, you can also use it by first feed the list of, let’s just say 20, 30, 40 keyword that you want to embed it in your listing. [00:17:00] The AI is going to write the listing and try to embed as many keywords into it and make it sounds like more as well. I believe you can also use that for Walmart product listing creation nowadays. So that’s another AI tool that you can consider if you are selling on Amazon and you want to optimize your listing. My recommendation is look at your listing and update the back end keywords once a month to refresh and to re index and to re rank on the keyword that you want to rank for. That’s a lot of different tool that you can use within Helium 10 but the one we use the most is the Listing Builder right now that also have the AI capability embedded into their software. So for those of you that’s interested, we also have a special coupon code with Helium 10. If you use the coupon code, toy launch 10, you actually get a lifetime 10 percent off with Helium 10 as well.

The next thing you can really use AI for, I mentioned it earlier a little bit is email marketing, because again, email marketing is usually very text [00:18:00] focused marketing that’s text heavy, you should use AI for optimizing it, for doing segmentation and doing different type of targeting and also coming up with different life cycle marketing automation, for example you can collect the customers kid’s birthday, and then that’s one way to do different marketing automation around the kid’s birthday to remind them, or you can also doing A B testing with different titles and different kind of a body paragraph inside the emails and you can swap and test different content see which one will have a higher open rate, which one will have a higher clicks rate, et cetera. Come up with two different versions of the title, two different versions of the emails. A really quick way for you to test and scale your email marketing campaign by using AI tool like ChatGPT, which I highly suggest for you to get a 20 subscription of the ChatGPT 4.0 tool and with the pay subscription, now you can also do live internet searches with ChatGPT. You don’t have a paid [00:19:00] subscription yet, highly recommend to get a paid subscription with ChatGPT.

The next thing you can also use AI for, to optimize your advertising campaign using AI. There’s some different AI tool that you can currently use. For our advertising, we usually use a combination of AI and also human judgment. So we have a PPC manager on our team to manage all the different digital marketing, advertising campaigns and platform. We will actually set up a different rule and also some AI tool. It depends on which tool you use. There’s a lot of different tool right now for Amazon advertising. Some have AI capabilities, some have more, some have less, and you just need to do your due diligence to make sure what is your comfort level in AI because some tool is 100 percent AI, so if something went wrong, it’s hard to fix. For example, when your ACARS or when your TACOS is at the threshold and everything is doing well, That’s fine, but if your [00:20:00] ACoS is out of your thread hole or your tacos is, going up, you don’t know what is going on it’s harder to fix when the advertising platform is a hundred percent AI based compared to the rule based software that we are currently using, it’s called PacVue. It’s more of a rule based software and with some additional AI functionalities. That’s currently my personal preference right now the main thing is still rule based, but with some AI assistant to help us with budget allocation, help us coming up with targeting for different product or targeting different keywords, but it’s not a hundred percent AI, then it become like a black box solution is really hard to fix when the thing went wrong. So that’s my recommendation on how to use AI when it comes to digital marketing management, especially for the pay ads side.

The next thing you also want to understand the basic of how do you communicate with AI, because AI is a language processing tool. The more detail you can fit fee into the AI system, like ChatGPT or any other AI tool that you’re currently doing, [00:21:00] the more you can fit into the system by providing them with additional information, the better the response. You want to make sure you have learn how to structure your prompt to solicit a specific action or information is very essential. Just imagine you are talking to the AI like one of your friends, and you want to really write out your prompt as, as detailed as possible. I’m going to show you is some of the real example on how we’re currently using AI for our podcast creation, because we have been running our podcast for almost six, five months now the toy business unboxed podcast.

Our current podcasts have about four different stages. First, we’ll record a podcast and we’ll live stream to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube simultaneously. Then we use an AI tool, which I’m going to show you to do the post editing of the sound of the podcast and the software we use for post editing is called Descript. For Descript I’m going to show you in the next slide, which is stage two. Then once we use the [00:22:00] Descript to do all the editing of the sound and the script. Next stage is stage three, we use another AI tool to turn the long form video interview into short form videos like 30 and 60 seconds snippet and turn it into a vertical video so we can repurpose our podcast into a shorter format for Instagram, for TikTok, for Facebook, for YouTube, et cetera, which I’m going to give you some live example and in the stage four, we’ll put all the content together, including the images, the short form videos, the long form video, the audio, and we put everything into a share folder. We share that with our guests. And on average, our team currently spent about. Almost 10 hours per episode, including pre productions, the scheduling, the post production, and get everything out and created. So it’s still quite a bit of a process, but the AI really has able to shortcut and make our process more efficient. Without AI, I’m pretty sure we’ll spend like 20 [00:23:00] hours per episode instead of only 10.

Let me go right in and show you some of the different AI tool we’re currently using in part of our podcast productions. But before I show you this, one more reminder for writing an effective prompt when you’re interacting with AI is first, you want to get a very clear Prompt on gathering customer feedback and try to fit into your description. The easiest way is just give AI a link to your product. For example, the ChatGPT 4.0 now they can scrape the entire website and they can understand what the product is really quickly or you can understand what your business is. So that’s another way to feed the AI. Then you can create a more like an instructional, a prompt on asking the AI to do a certain task.

This is one of the tool I mentioned earlier for content creation called Descript. This is a AI tool we currently use to do all the post editing for our podcast. And you have a lot of different functions. For example, you can create a title for the episode using AI is going to [00:24:00] look at the entire script. The way Descript works, Descript is a text based editor, so you can actually look at the words and delete the word that you want to remove. So it’s actually a little bit faster than a traditional, video editor, which is you have to watch the video and try to cut and chop the video. In Descript, it’s all text based, so you can remove the text, add a text, and that’s a lot of different functions you can use. You can also summarize the entire descriptions. Once you upload the videos into Descript, you will create a transcription of the entire podcast episode. Then you can use Descript to either summarize it, Create show note for it, even create YouTube description for it, and also create social media posts based on the content here and you can also draft a blog post. Use Descript to remove like filter words because we are all human sometimes we use or we repeat ourselves a little bit. So the Descript can also identify those filter words and delete those filter word to make the podcast sounds a little bit more smooth [00:25:00] without those repeated war, or you don’t need with those death space and you can also shorten the word gap using the AI tool in the post editing. And the other thing is you can also make the sound quality better. There’s a AI effect you can use in Descript. It’s called studio sound that you can apply the sound. So the sound will sounds like you are recorded the episode using a professional mic, like the one I’m using, but not everyone has a professional mic. So you can use the AI tool to make the sound sounds like you’re recording from a professional mic and a studio.

That’s a couple of different functions that you can use for Descript. For those of you that is currently running any kind of podcasts or creating any kind of long form content you can also use Descript to edit YouTube video as well. Highly recommend Descript as far as to use it as a video editor.

The next tool we use as part of our podcast content creation process is Opus Clip. Opus Clip is a software where you can turn [00:26:00] long video clip into short clip, and the AI tool is going to identify certain moments in, for example, a 30 minute or 45 minute interview and the opus clip is going to identify several different portion that they think is going to be engaging for the audience and is going to turn it into a short form video and this is also a tool that our team have been using as far as creating short form content out of the video podcast. And also highly recommend for you to check it out if you have a long form content, like a podcast or a long form YouTube video that you’re creating, you can use Opus Clip to turn those long form videos into a short clip. The whole thing is pretty automated. But you still need to have someone to review those clips that’s generated to decide on which one you want to keep. Usually you would generate like 10, 20 clips, but usually that’s three or five, three to five. That’s really good one that you want to keep. It’s still very important for someone on your team to review those clips before you [00:27:00] decide on which ones you reuse. Opus Clip also sync with your social media platform. You can upload those short form video clips directly on your social media platform as well.

The next AI tool I also use is called BigVu. The way it works, it’s a teleprompter app. I use this to create a lot of short form video, for example just a quick marketing tip of the day. And I can also use it to generate the script for the short form video. I try to keep it under a minute because if you go over a minute, then there’s a lot of platform you couldn’t post it on. So usually I’ll create the script of the short form video, either in ChatGPT or in BigVu. The nice thing about this is the platform also have an app. I will actually just record a video on my phone. I have a gimbal that I use. I’ll set it up, then I can record myself. The app can also act as a teleprompter. So you can just read off the script that you generated from the app then the app will sync with all your [00:28:00] social media platform as well. Also have a editing function, you can edit your videos, add a subtitles and see showing you right now here, everything inside the app. Once you finish the editing with a one click button, it’s going to sync with all your social media, or you can schedule them out as well using BigVu.

The toy industry involved more and more of us need to create more content to really fight for people’s attention. That’s why the content creation I feel is really important. I believe all the successful toy brand, if you want to be successful, long term, you really need to become an entertainment company. Means you need to create content for your customer in short form videos or long form videos, podcasts, or other form of content. So people can like and trust your brand over time. I’ll highly encourage those of you that’s watching the replay is to engage in more content creation for your toy businesses, and that will really benefit you and your businesses in the long term.

The other way we can also use AI is definitely you want [00:29:00] to use a conversational approach, talking to the AI, like talking to a coworker to be clear, to be specific, ask clarifying question, engage in prompting and use evergreen content for a ChatGPT, that’s also different way that you can create like a tone or an voice for yourself or for your brand and you can put it into your settings. So every single time you ask the ChatGPT with the prompt. Is going to personalize the response based on what you feed into the system. We here at toy launch, we are also experimenting with a lot of the latest AI tool. And we actually use AI to create blog posts right now. We are creating, we’re publishing about 15 different blog posts every single month. A lot of the content using AI to create the whole blog post and then one of the team member on the team is going to publish the blog posts. That’s another great way to use AI for content creation, to write blog posts, come up with images and all that to make again, you [00:30:00] want to be like a authority figure in your space. The best way to do that is just create a lot of content. It could be video content, it could be written content, but any kind of content that’s going to really help you to re establish yourself and your company as an authority in the space that you’re trying to establish your presence in.

Already mentioned earlier is Crafting detail and informative prompt is really important and you need to have a certain type of clarity in your messages and also make sure it is relevant to your marketing objective and have specific parameter for the prompt that you are using and also try to adapt because AI change so fast, you need to learn the latest by just testing what is working right now, like The ChatGPT 4. 0 was just released a couple of weeks ago. With the latest feature they can do live translation. I was testing it with my wife. I was asking ChatGPT, can you translate in real life and translate English to Japanese? So I’ll [00:31:00] speak English, then ChatGPT will translate into Japanese. And then my wife will speak Japanese and it’s live translate back to English. That’s how advanced like the ChatGPT has become. As the AI get more and more advance as a business owner, we need to keep up with what is happening and how can we best leverage those latest development, the latest tool to our own advantage. Because I believe if you don’t adapt, you’re going to get eliminated. That’s just the nature of marketing. If you don’t adapt to the latest trend and really utilizing capitalized sign of the latest tool, your competitor will and they will do it pretty quickly because that’s how fast AI has been evolving.

If you are not in the community, join our community. We have a community called Toy Entrepreneur Circle. You can find our communities on Facebook. And we also have a meetup group with the same name. You can also find it on meetup. com called Toy Entrepreneur Circle, which we are trying to do more webinars, more virtual event. So for people that’s watching, you can [00:32:00] also participate and share with other toy entrepreneurs working and not working. But the most important thing is you just need to experiment yourself. Just try it yourself with different AI tool. And the best way to learn is hand on experiment and get feedback with your team, with your customer and validate what is working, what’s not working. Stay up to date with the latest AI tool. Test in a control environment. And also you want to continuous learning, continuing implementing and improving as AI is evolving, so should you and your business should be also evolving and adapting to the latest AI development as well.

So this is an example of a custom GPT that we designed at ToyLaunch. If you go to the ChatGPT store, you’ll find our version of the ChatGPT. It’s called a custom GPT. If you search for ToyLaunchGPT, you’ll find our GPT. The way we create a custom GPT is we feed the GPT with our content, [00:33:00] with our interview, with our blog posts, with our YouTube videos, and with a lot of the industry insight that we have. So when you use the toy launch GPT, the response that you get is more industry specific instead of a generic response that you’ll get from ChatGPT. We create a more custom experience for the toy industry called toy launch GPT that you can ask them questions and interact with the GPT as well. So feel free to check out our own custom GPT called toy launch GPT if you haven’t tried it already, again, it’s free to use. I think you just need to have a subscription was with ChatGPT in order to use their custom GPT. This is another user case of how you can utilize AI by creating your own version of the GPT or AI model based on the information based on the context that you are feeding into the system. It will give you more of a personalized and customized response.
